Show Descriptions

A ditzy French parlormaid stands accused of murdering her fiery Latin lover.  It's an open and shut case in the eyes of everyone except Sevigne, a new young magistrate who believes that justice should be blind to money, power and politics.  But will he succeed in teasing the truth from the air-headed maid, her pompous aristocratic boss and his icy society wife?  "A bubbling, saucy comedy...A light, tasty souffle." - N.Y. Times

Character Descriptions
Paul Sévigné:  Examining magistrate.  Attractive and well dressed, he wears horn-rimmed glasses when reading to make him more scholarly that tends to recede when he takes them off.  Married to Antoinette.  (Age: 35)

Morestan:  Clerk to Sévigné.  Hardened and cynical by his years in the judicial service.  (Age: 35)

Lablache:  Paul's superior in the Court system.  He wants Josefa convicted without hesitation.

Antoinette Sévigné:  Paul's wife.  Quite attractive and a fashionista of the time period - really into Christian Dior and Coco Chanel, etc.

Josefa Lantenay:  Parlor maid accused of the murder of her lover, the Beaurevers' chauffeur.  Pretty, delicate looking as one would not expect in one whom until recently was an farm-girl.  Her manner and speech are candid, never common or vulgar, though her voice is not educated or affected.  (Age: 20-30)

Dominique Beaurevers:  Aristocratic, beautiful, chic, and carries the situation with an air of great gaiety.  (Age: 40-50)

Benjamin Beaurevers:  Banker, aristocratic, supremely elegant, quite handsome, and very sure of himself.  He makes no effort to conform to surroundings that are foreign to him.  (Age: 40-50)

Guard:  (Age: 20+)
