Miriam Waslyk is a single mother who uses moonlight to help enhance the drab surroundings of the Pennsylvania coal town in her artwork.
Her desire to find a husband is thwarted by her teenage daughter Amanda; a genius with an imaginary friend feeding her devlish behavior. Will Miriam's
latest beau be able to match wits with Amanda's psychological warfare or will he be able to win the hearts of both mother and daughter? Desperate Affection
and Early One Evening At The Rainbow Bar and Grille author mixes reality and fantasy in this "coming-of-age" work.

Amanda Waslyk: Very serious and precocious with a 160 IQ. She wears clothing more suitable for an adult. She's fearing that a man in the house will change everything.
She does not want her mother to show any interest in men and with Randolph's help, they drive them away. (Age: 13-16) |
Randolph: Amanda's handsome, but imaginary, friend, who is invisible to Miriam and Warren, His clothing is dictated
by whatever book Amanda is currently reading. (No specific age but preferably mid-teens to 30's) |
Warren Zimmerman: A mailman, unprepossessing, and slightly overweight. He's interested in Miriam and is the target for
Amanda's (and Randolph's) caustic remarks and demeaning intelligence tests. (Age: 40's) |
Miriam Waslyk: Amanda's lonely, unmarried mother who is looking for male companionship. She is a waitress and painter who paints only moonscapes in their little Pennsylvania coal town.
She is very annoyed at Amanda's attempts to drive men away. (Age: 30's) |
