Based on the film of the same name written by Neil Simon and starred Richard Dreyfuss. It later became a Broadway musical and starred Martin Short and Bernadette Peters.
The Goodbye Girl is a love story set in New York and tells the tale of Paula, a divorced, unemployed ex-dancer, her precocious teenage daughter, and Elliot, an egotistical, struggling actor. They are all forced to live together when Elliot arrives on Paula’s doorstep with a lease to sublet her apartment.
Despite their differences of opinion and temperament, this unlikely pair discovers romance as they help each other cope with the ups and downs of life and living in the big city.
